Sonic Wave CD-2800 Ultrasonic Jewelry & Eyeglass Cleaner Feedback and Complaints

The Sonic Wave CD-2800 ultrasonic jewelry & eyeglass cleaner is a very popular device apparently. I already have a few ultrasonic jewelry cleaners at my disposal, but I went ahead and ordered the Sonic Wave CD-2800 because I wanted to find out what the fuss is all about.

See, the fuss I’m referring to is the number of reviews this particular model has been receiving on Amazon.com. At the time of writing, there’re 234 reviews of the Wave CD-2800 on the Amazon site and that my friend, is staggering! Furthermore, the majority of reviews are on the positive side and coupled with the low price, I just had to check out the device for myself.

So, apart from jewelry and eyeglass, what else could this device clean?

It can clean toothbrushes, razor blades, badges that are made of metal, coins, small silverware, gems, keys, toothbrushes, dentures, etc. Click here for more information

Cleaning Power?
The Sonic Wave CD-2800 ultrasonic jewelry & eyeglass cleaner is capable of producing 42,000 cycle ultrasonic energy wave to clean off dirt and grime from your precious items. Okay the 42,000 energy wave thing is what it says on the box, and it sure sounds cool in a sci-fi sort of way.
But if I were to explain it in a “non-fiction” way, what this device does is produce a ton of microscopic cleaning bubbles to get rid of stubborn dirt and grime. So when you switch on the device, you won’t be able to see the bubbles but rest assure they’re present and working their butts off cleaning your dirty jewelry!

The Sonic Wave CD-2800 is a very effective device; however you must use a detergent or a jewelry cleaner concentrate in order to get satisfactory results. According to the product details, it says that simply filling the tank with plain water is sufficient to attain “professional cleaning results”.

I’m sorry but that’s BS, at least in my experience. I tried cleaning my gold ring and necklace with pendant using only plain water and I hardly see any difference. In fact, I performed 3 cleaning cycles (3 minute per cycle)!

After the third cycle, I added some detergent and push the button again for another cleaning cycle. Woosh…Bam! My necklace and ring came out sparkling clean. Next, I added other items that would fit into the basket (a cute gold Matryoshka doll figurine, a water-proof watch, and a white gold wedding band), PLUS some detergent. I activated the device and did a couple of cleaning cycles. The result?

100% awesome clean! The Matryoshka doll figurine looked exceptionally clean. The white gold band was sparkling and the dirt on the water-proof watch came off. No grime, no dirt…Nothing!

Professional Cleaning Results?
Nope, sorry to burst your bubble. While the Sonic Wave CD-2800 is a powerful ultrasonic cleaner, well surprisingly powerful for the price, it’s incapable of producing professional cleaning results. It does a good job at cleaning everyday dirt and grime but no more than that.

I heard pro jewelry cleaners use top-of-the-line steam cleaners so their results are several notches better.

Size Matters…
Yes definitely matters if you want to clean multiple items at once. I like the size of the base. It’s pretty big. Enough to accommodate large jewelry, plus a few other items such as watch, badges, coins and pocket knives. I’m all for cleaning various items simultaneously, saves me time so thumbs-up for the size.

Is it Durable?
So far so good. Bought the thing about 10 months ago and it’s still working fine. However, please do take good care of the device. It’s pretty fragile. I don’t think it would hold up well if it gets drop hard.

My Complaints on the Sonic Wave CD-2800 Ultrasonic Jewelry and Eyeglass Cleaner

The 3-min auto shut off feature…The automatic shut off period is annoyingly short. I would’ve preferred a longer auto shut off time, say 5 minutes at a minimum. If you want to do say, a 3-cycle cleaning, you’ll have to push the clean button every 3 minutes for 3 times! That’s very irritating.

Better still, they should’ve added an adjustable timer function. Let’s say 3, 5, or 10 minutes per cycle. That would’ve been awesome. I run the thing for 10 minutes, go do whatever I want, come back to find my items all nice and clean.

Extremely dirt items require multiple cycles…If you have items that have extreme grime build-up, then you probably have to perform many cycles. I’m talking at least 7 to 10 cycles even with some detergent added in! Terrible hassle I know but it’s a pretty cheap device so there you go…

The Pricing….
This is one of the cheapest ultrasonic jewelry cleaner on the market. You shouldn’t have to fork out more than say thirty to thirty dollars for a brand new one. Free shipping might be available via Amazon.com so you might want to check that out via the link below. All in all, this is an excellent device for the price. Cleans well but don’t expect professional results.

Conair Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner

When we first heard of the brand Conair, we immediately thought of the infamous Cimmerian barbarian created by the late Robert E. Howard. If Conan the barbarian exists, he would certainly use this Conair ultrasonic jewelry cleaner to clean off his warrior bangles and bracelets because their names sound almost exactly alike!

So the above is an image of Conair jewelry cleaner and if you look at the front part, you can clearly see a digital timer there which is useful because it informs you of the cleaning progress. Some sonic cleaners on the market do not possess such feature and that’s a real shame.

Modern auto-cleaning devices should have a visible digital timer as a standard feature, don’t you think?
Now, in terms of cleaning power, the Conair ultrasonic jewelry cleaner is able to generate 42,000 energy waves of frequency which is the standard output of most low-cost ultrasonic cleaners. With just plain tap water, the Conair jewelry cleaner can produce 42,000Hz energy wave ultrasonic bubbles to break down unwanted substances like dust, dirt and grime from the surface of your jewelry.

And it’s not just jewelry that can be cleaned with this device; in fact, you can also put in eyeglasses, coins, dentures, badges and similar items into the cleaner. The sonic cleaner would make them look squeaky clean again. Visit https://jewelrycleanershub.com/ for more information

Haier Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner HU335W Review

One of the biggest home appliance brands in China, Haier currently manufactures a large range of electrical goods including microwaves, washing machines, television, and many, many more. And yes, they produce ultrasonic cleaners as well.

Weighing at only 1.7 pounds, this is definitely one of the lightest ultrasonic jewelry cleaners on the market. It can clean fine jewelry like diamond rings, gold earrings, bracelets, eyeglasses, and more. In fact, you can add in your electric shaver parts in the device and it’ll get the nasty grime removed quickly and effectively.

Now, this unit is widely known as Haier ultrasonic jewelry cleaner HU335W. We reckon the “35W” at the end, denotes the amount of energy required for powering the device so at 35 watt, the power consumption is very low. That’s a good thing as less power consumed means less damage to the environment, and not to mention our wallets as well...

A plastic rack is included with the unit and this is a very important item to have because it helps you remove your jewelry with ease. You don’t have to buy detergent or chemicals to clean your jewelry with this ultrasonic cleaner. Plain or soapy water should do it. You simply plug in the HU335W ultrasonic cleaner, add water, and activate the 3-minute cleaning cycle.

In terms of cleaning results, the HU335W is sometimes satisfactory, sometimes poor depending on the item. It does an okay job at cleaning items such as bracelets with round stones, shaver heads, eyeglasses, watch bands, and coins. But rather poor at cleaning diamond rings and earrings (additional manual scrubbing required).

It won’t make your jewelry look shiny new and the results are rather hit-or-miss. You would need to engage a professional service to attain that shiny new appearance. However, if you’re looking for a low-cost ultrasonic cleaner that’s good enough for once-a-month cleaning maintenance, pick up this model or you might want to opt for the CD-3800 Ultrasonic Cleaner by New Trent.

Features and Benefits of Haier Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner Model HU335W

  •  Easy to operate
  •  Low-cost
  •  Decent design and lightweight
  •  Cleaning tank size is 20.3 ounce and constructed of stainless steel
  •  3-minute auto cleaning cycle
  •  LED light to indicate cleaning progress
  •  Minimal energy consumption
  •  Device is easy to clean

Disadvantages of Haier Ultrasonic Cleaner HU335W

  •  According to some users, durability is an issue
  •  Hit-or-miss cleaning results
  •  Slight noisy (buzzing sound)
  •  No manual timer setting

Non-Toxic Gem and Jewelry Cleaner by Blitz USA

This non-toxic jewelry cleaner is made in the USA and ideal for removing grime and tarnish from the non-porous surface of your jewelry. Both jewelry basket and brush are included with the jar.
